FLIP Diapering System Review

Padded Tush Stats took the opportunity to review the FLIP Diapering System. After numerous calls for survey announcements on social networking sites, blogs, and cloth diapering community forums, we received 39 responses.

In the survey, respondents are broken down by the kinds of diapering issues their babies face. Before we look at the results of the survey, I wanted to provide some basic information on the diaper. You can also see this in the video found below.

The Flip diapering system is a HYBRID diapering system. This means that you have multiple choices for inserts, including a disposable insert.
The system comes with three different inserts:
The diaper is available in Snaps and Aplix
The system is a one size system, and fits babies 7-35 pounds. The snaps on the cover allow you to adjust the size of the diaper.

Comments from Survey Respondents
“The organic inserts fit perfectly into the cover and the cover fits over every insert, prefold, and fitted I've tried it with!”

“I love using the organic inserts for naps and bedtime because they are super absorbent but kind of bulky and the stay dry for the rest of the day because it is nice and trim.”

“I have found that most of our leaks are due to user error and not the diapers themselves - we love our flips, but we do wish that we could have a bigger stash of pockets or maybe have some AIOs in our stash.”

“I have to use one size smaller on the insert than on the cover. My cover is on the medium snaps but I set the insert to the small setting and it fits perfectly.”

“I used the Flip cover with gdiaper disposable inserts with good results.  This was the best combination for us and ended up being what we used when we normally would've grabbed a disposable diaper for quite a while.”

“We always fold the stay-dry insert in the front on our daughter, even though it's recommended to fold in the back for girls. Easier to put on that way and we haven't had any leaking.”

“I find a trifolded the WIDE way PF or a wide padfolded flat to work much better with the Flip cover.  It helps the insert not slide around so much with the wide crotch of this diaper.”

Retailers
* I have found that Sew Crafty Baby has the most reasonable prices. The shipping is free and there is almost always a discount code on the Facebook page. Shipping is fast and customer service has been amazing.
* There is a great thread at Diaper Swappers that tells you other places where you can get get free shipping.
* You can also find a complete list of retailers here
* Amazon also carries the Flip Diapering system, so it’s a good way to get them for free with your Swagbucks.

Customer Service
Because Cotton Babies (maker of FLIP) is such a large company, I haven’t had as much direct contact with the makers as I have had with other diapers I have had surveys out for. However, the company does offer a one year warranty on their products.

They also had the following response when I sent them this review:
“The Flip diapering system is backed by the Cotton Babies 1 year warranty. Cotton Babies will stand behind the workmanship and materials in a properly cared for product for one year from the date of purchase. The Cotton Babies Guarantee covers all components of our products including the snaps, lining, hook & loop closures, elastic and waterproofing. The warranty is extended to the original purchaser of the products only. Proof of purchase is required. For other issues, Cotton Babies (manufacturer of bumGenius, Flip and Econobum cloth diapers) is always willing to help customers troubleshoot fit, laundering and other issues. We can be reached by calling 1-888-332-2243 or by e-mail at contactus@cottonbabies.com We understand every baby and family is different, so our experienced staff is glad to help you find a routine and system that will help you and your family be successful in cloth diapering.”
That sounds very promising!
