The delights of having two under the age of two

Think having two under two is so bad? OK, fine, I don't sleep anymore...BUT there are some pluses that make it all worth it:
264935_2027279116382_1076160230_2222175_8079298_n (1)
1. When you play peekaboo, you delight TWO faces at once

2. I get to turn a spoon into a jet to feed my littlest, then another spoon becomes a choo choo train for the oldest who is refusing to eat something on her plate

3. Because of the fussy, teething toddler, I had her in bed with me last night and while I was feeding the youngest, she was stroking his head and scratching my back for me.

4. Since one doesn’t talk yet and the other one is just starting to develop her vocabulary, they only talk to each other in giggles.

5. The oldest likes to eat pureed foods that the youngest couldn’t quite finish off (don’t worry, I set a little of the extra aside so there isn’t any "double dipping"!)

6. Hubbs and I look pretty chic each wearing our babies (me in an Ergo, he in a Cybex)….if I do say so myself! Winking smile

7. Both love sitting on the kitchen counter, buckled in their cute little chairs, as I pretend to be a TV Chef (website that is my current obsession: www.weelicious.com)

8. Both love to play “Bumble bee come out from under the barn with a jar of honey under his arm….” and never know which one will get the tickles

9. Both love nursery songs. Today’s favorite, “Five little ducks went out to play…”

10. Celebrating Orange Fridays via matching diapers!

Happy Orange Friday everyone!

For those of you with two under the age of two (or who had two under the age of two)….what makes it all worth it?

For those with just one under the age of two….I want to hear from you too! What are some things that make it all worth it?

Tiny Tush Elite One Size Pocket Diapers–Statistical Review

For more information on how I try to ensure both fairness to diaper manufacturers and fairness in my reviews, please click here.

Padded Tush Stats recently released surveys for the Tiny Tush Elite One Size One Size Pocket Diaper. After numerous calls for survey respondents on social networking sites, blogs, and cloth diapering community forums, we received 21 responses.

In the survey, questions are broken down by the kinds of diapering issues faced by the babies. Before we look at the results of the survey, I wanted to provide some basic information on the diaper. You can also see this in the video found below.

Video Review

* The diaper is a pocket diaper, this means you can stuff the inside of the diaper with an insert. This allows you to change the absorbency of the diaper (by adding more inserts).

* the inside of the diaper is topped with a microfleese lining which draws the moisture away from the baby, giving it a stay dry feel.

* The outside of the diaper is made of a waterproof PUL fabric.

* The pocket opening of the diaper is in the back and has what is called a “reverse pocket opening” that is supposed to prevent poop from getting caught under the flap.

* The diaper is available with both snaps and Aplix (Velcro)

* The diaper has laundry tabs so that the velcro doesn’t stick to other stuff in the wash

* The diaper has a 4X3 snap down rise

* This is designed to fit babies in the 7-35 pound range.

* The diaper has two snaps on each size to close it.

* The diaper has 3 possible inserts:

- The small microfiber insert is  approximately 12" long and 4 3/4" wide.
- The large microfiber insert is approximately 16" long and 4 3/4" wide

- Rectangular shaped 2-ply insert  is100% cotton and 10" wide x 16.5" long.

Main Findings

The diaper performed best with chunky babies, although the performance seemed to be very similar for all baby types. It also received high ratings for being daycare worthy and for being a diaper that would be recommended to a friend. The diaper did not receive as high of rankings for trimness, especially for skinny babies and babies with skinny thighs. Several survey respondents said that the insert was a little too narrow, so they used other inserts instead.

Comments from Survey Respondents

“Love the diaper, not crazy about the original insert. They are very narrow. I use other inserts and love these for my tall 3 year old.”

“I substitute a hemp insert for one of its MF inserts for overnight. They are larger than BGs and cheaper, and softer inside.  USA made rules!”

“I used a hemp and a microfiber insert for nighttimes.”

“We use this diaper for overnight on our three year old.  We use both the large and small inserts stacked together.”

“I think the microfiber insert needs to be a little bigger or maybe add another layer.  My BumGenius inserts are bigger and hold a little more than this one, so I usually stuff my Tiny Tush's with a one size Bum Genius insert.  I love the fit and comfort of the Tiny Tush's on my 19 lb. 27 in. 5 month old!”

“These diapers were bought for me as a gift when my first baby was born. She has been using them since she was 8 weeks old; she is now 23 months. We also have a 4 month old who is using the same diapers and has been since she was 6 weeks old.  I have used the same diapers for both children and they are in fantastic condition. After 2+ combined years of daily use, only the inserts show signs of wear.  The inserts can be purchased separately and are very inexpensive to replace.  I have recommended these diapers to everyone who will listen.  They are the most durable every day baby item we own. Definitely worth the investment, and worth making the switch from disposables.”

Fluff Stash iPhone App Review

Hey all,
I just did a video review of the Fluff Stash App for the iPhone. You can check out the video here:
Fluff Stash Video Review
Some key points:
* This is great for people who like to collect diapers
* This is great for people who like to sell and trade their diapers and want to keep track of what they have
* This is also good for people who want to take pictures and notes of their babies as they grow into their diapers (kind of like what I do with the One Size Diaper Project).

Some things that could be improved on:
* It would be nice to share with my Facebook Fan page, since most of my Facebook friends probably don’t care about my cloth diaper stash Winking smile
* It doesn’t carry a lot of diaper brands that I have, like my Ragababes or Green Line Diapers
* It would be nice if there was a feature where we could “friend” each other and see each other’s stashes.
Overall, this is a pretty fun app to have. It is only .99.
I am doing a little giveaway for one, courtesy of Fluff Stash (thank you Cloth Diaper Outlet!). See below for the entry form.

Winner will be selected August 12 at 11:59pm PST.

Itti Bitti D’Lish Snap in One Diaper–My Review

For information on how I attempt to ensure to produce reviews as honest and fair to diaper creators  as possible, please click here.
Confession: I have rubbed a diaper up against my husband’s face. OK NO, it wasn’t used, but still, kinda weird. But that is what I did the second I got the Itti Bitti D’Lish Diaper from Green Diaper Demos. This thing is SOFT. I am sure my husband didn’t appreciate the gesture.
Do any of you have a pillow pet? That is my husband (yes, my husband’s) obsession. He’s bought one for every member of our household….well anyway, the Itti Bitti D’Lish feels just like that. Super, buttery soft.
Also, I don’t know if any of you have this weird occurrence (if you do, please comment and let me know I am not alone!): the moment my little one has a buttery soft diaper on, he poops. Like immediately. So this diaper passed my little guy’s test….all.the.time. Who needs prunes when you have a comfy Itti Bitti Diaper?”
So in this personal review of the diaper (as opposed to my statistical reviews that are based on a bunch of survey responses) I am going to tell you how I would respond to a Padded Tush Stats survey if I were filling it out for my kid.
Video Review
Let’s first look at the basics on this diaper:
* It has a buttery soft (rub-against-your-hubby’s-face) minky exterior
* It has one row of snaps across the top of the diaper.
* There are two snaps on each side of the diaper to make for a snug fit. There are also overlap snaps that make this fit a smaller waist.
* The diaper contains snap in soakers that are color coded so you know what to put where
* The soaker has a suedecloth top layer and is made of 2 layers of bamboo viscose. There are only natural fibers in the soakers.
* There is another insert that is bamboo that can be snapped underneath. It is two layers, but once you trifold it into thirds, it is 6 layers.
* You can also add in another booster underneath the suedecloth top.
* The diaper is intentionally made with a low rise

Survey responses on how this diaper worked on my baby:
On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being least absorbent and 5 being most absorbent), how would you rank this diaper? 4
On a scale of 1 to 5 (with one being terrible fit to 5 being excellent fit) how would you rank the overall fit of this diaper? 3 (when it fit, it fit well, but again, short fit time)
Is this diaper worth the price? 3 (it fit for too short of a time for the price)
On a scale of 1 to 5 (with 1 being not trim to 5 being very trim) how would you rank the overall trimness of this diaper? 4
Do cloth diapering skeptics (like dear hubby or your MIL) like this diaper? 3 (they liked how soft it was, but the snap in inserts got confusing)
Is this a daycare-worthy diaper? 3
Is this a Naptime Diaper? 5
Is this a nighttime diaper? 2
On a Scale of 1 to 5, please indicate whether or not you would recommend this diaper. 3
What are the PROS of this diaper? I felt like such a good Mama for pitting this buttery soft diaper on my little guy. So soft!, I like the trim fit, dries fast, and have I mentioned it is soft?, In the narrow window of time it fit him it fit like a glove
What are the CONS of this diaper? Took LOTS of washes to prep, fit only a small amount of time (he outgrew the small at 13 pounds). The diaper is a little bulky, even though it fits snugly against the skin
Are there any other comments or tips you would like to add about this diaper? (for example, a particular stuffing method you found helpful, or anything else!) Make sure you prep this a bunch since the inserts are bamboo. Mine leaked a lot until I finally gave it a bunch of washes.

Where to buy them
* Green Diaper Demos is one of my favorite stores and they have these diapers. I got in touch with the owner through Diaper Swappers because she is always great about answering questions. I had contacted her to tell her about my leaking issues and she encouraged me to prep some more…which totally worked.
* There is a great thread at Diaper Swappers about places where you can get get free shipping.
* Kelly’s Closet has these diapers. I have an affiliate link here so if you use it, thank you in advance!
Although I received this diaper for review from Green Diaper Demos, all opinions in this post are my own.

Rocky Mountain One-Sized Pocket Diaper Review

For more information on how I try to ensure both fairness to diaper manufacturers and fairness in my reviews, please click here.

Padded Tush Stats recently released surveys for the Rocky Mountain One-Sized Pocket Diaper. After numerous calls for survey respondents on social networking sites, blogs, and cloth diapering community forums, we received 28 responses.

In the survey, questions are broken down by the kinds of diapering issues faced by the babies. Before we look at the results of the survey, I wanted to provide some basic information on the diaper. You can also see this in the video found below.

Video Review

Basics Behind Rocky Mountain Pocket Diaper

* Has an “Internal Adjustment System” to allow you to adjust the diaper size. This is a snap system on the elastic of the diaper. Therefore, you don’t see a snap down rise or anything (quite similar to the button feature of the Fuzzibunz one size diaper). This feature is intended to make it to where it fits the baby from birth to potty training.

* The Diaper has snap closures (two on each side)

* there is a pocket opening in the back where you can stuff an insert into the diaper

* The top of the diaper (the part touching the baby’s bum) is made with a stay-dry suedecloth so they feel less wetness. Unique form most diapers, this part of the diaper can come in a variety of colors.

* Outside of the diaper is made of a waterproof PUL

* The diaper gathers at the gussets to help resist leaks

* The diaper comes with a microfiber insert

Main Findings

Owners were most impressed with the trimness of this diaper (which could most likely be because of the internal size adjustments of the system). Owners of rash prone babies were most impressed with this diaper (most likely due to the stay dry interior). People liked the softness against the baby’s skin, as well as the cute color selection. Many did have issues with leaks with this diaper.

Comments from Survey Respondents

“RMD are great!I have had RMD in constant use for nearly 2.5 years now, and it looks just as it did as new... wears so well!”

“I found that the newborn exclusive breastfeed poop leaked out of the actual seams on the thighs of these. Not the side or anything, but where the thread created the casing for the thigh elastic.”

“I used the inserts that came with the diapers (free from various companies) and added thirsties doublers to make sure there were no leaks.  Worked almost every time!”

“For night time with my heavy wetter I put two of the inserts in and it works perfectly.”

“The fit comes and goes depending on what kind of growth spurt we're going through. Right now my daughter's legs are fairly thin so they don't fit quite as well as she seems to be in between settings, but when her legs are chunkier they are great!”

“With the long one size insert I fold the front down as I have a boy for a little added protection where he needs it since I am currently using the diaper on the 2nd to smallest setting.”

“To avoid wings in the front and leaking ask for assistance in learning how to snap them. It's to hard to explain and it took me asking for help to learn the right way to snap them.”

“The opening at the back of the diaper needs to be wider. I have a small hand and can barely stuff the diaper with a thin insert.”

“The poop just peels right off the inside, leaving virtually no residue and has never stained on me at all. Very very helpful - I always try to time it right so my son has this diaper on when he normally poops because cleanup is a breeze!”

“I love how the sizing is in the leg gussets!”
