Talking to your loved one about cloth diapering: A Cheezy Animated Video

I don't know about you guys, but it was tough for me to convince my husband that cloth diapering would be a good choice for us. I created an overdramatization of our discussion (husband wasn't British, nor was he as grumpy!...OK, maybe he was). I hope that by showing this discussion it might help some of you out. Please pass this on and share it with people. Maybe it could help someone out! (below you can find a list of websites that could be helpful for someone).

Also, in the video I talk about trial programs for diapers. Here is a pretty good one:

Here are some more resources for getting advice on what cloth diapers to buy (aside from Padded Tush Stats):

And remember that I would be happy to advise you on purchases that might be best for your little one.

So here's my question for many of you...Was it tough for you to convince your loved one to cloth diaper your baby? If so, what were some things you discussed? What finally did it? (if you are cloth diapering now)

  1. I'm laughing so hard! I love where she dances at the end. This is pretty much exactly how my conversation went. I'm pretty sure I said some of those things word for word (we must have read a lot of the same stuff) Can I post this on my blog?? It's so funny.

To answer your question, it wasn't that hard to convince my husband. He's all about saving money and when I had an answer for every question he had (pretty much ever question hot hoodie man had) he said alright lets do it! We decided on our first pregnancy, but since he didn't make it, we have just been building up our stash slowly while we wait for the next one. It's so much easier to build it up slowly. If you buy two diapers a month it's just like buying disposables right? I show all my friends my diapers and am trying to get any who are thinking about babies involved. I have a few that are interested! It's awesome.

Sorry this was the longest comment on earth.

  2. Thank you so much for your comment, it made my day. This video took many many MAAAANY hours to do and I was worried maybe I was the only one who could relate to it! So thank you and yes, PLEASE share it.
You could post a NOVEL on here if it is as kind as your comment ;) Thank you.

I totally agree with you on the building up slowly. If I could do it all over again, I would just use start collecting Swagbucks they day I found out I was pregnant and would buy my stash that way. I did the math....and in 8 months I could have used Swagbucks to get at least 50% of my stash in that time....or 100% if I did prefolds or flats. Not bad. But once hubby was on board he wanted to just dive right in. Sadly we weren't educated enough on diapers and bought some pretty dumb stuff.

  3. Swagbucks is a really good idea. I'll have to look into that. I've just been setting aside a small percentage out of my paycheck. I'm buying sales and also saving as much as I can. That way when I find out if it's a boy or girl I can just blow it all on cute boy/girl dipe.
I'm sure I've made some bad purchases too. I guess that's one of the risks when you've never tried anything. I feel like I know everything about cloth because I've read so much and nothing because I don't have a baby to try it all out on! It'll be fun when it's time.

  4. @Higgs: let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to help. I was nervous about that as well when I had my second. With my first I cloth diapered her, but not in the beginning. After cloth diapering a newborn, I would have to say I would recommend getting a newborn stash, and then after that just one size diapers. I think very few diapers (if any) will flat out just not work for you. You just might like some better than others. Feel free to email me and I can give you some suggestions on some top picks. P.S. Checked out your blog, like the button in the top right corner of your blog ;)
